Cost: $170 per child (Includes all specialized materials & tools) Class Size: Capped at 6 makers for focused, individual guidance. Back for November with an entirely fresh lineup of studio techniques! Nimble Makers: Fall Session 2 is designed for hands-on, creative kids ready to experiment with real artist tools and new tactile processes. Whether your child joined us for Session 1 or is brand new to the studio, every single project in this cohort is new. We move beyond standard crafts to tackle relief printing, sculptural paper casting, dimensional metalwork, and intricate resist drawing. Week 1 (Nov 10): Cyanotype Sun Prints & Botanical Shadowgrams We kick off with historical photographic printmaking! Using cyanotype-sensitized paper and UV exposure lamps, makers arrange botanicals, translucent films, and found objects to compose striking Prussian-blue shadow prints, finishing with water-bath reveals. Week 2 (Nov 17): Thread Couching Monograms A fast-paced, modern take on traditional couching! Instead of slow hand-stitching, makers "draw" with low-temp glue guns and then use embroidery floss and yarn to wrap their glue lines on heavy canvas. It’s an intensely graphic, tactile way to build bold, colorful relief designs. Week 3 (Nov 24): Custom Multi-Layer Stencils & Print Application Makers explore graphic design and positive/negative space. Kids design original shapes, cut durable stencils, and use foam daubers and stippling brushes to layer contrasting paints onto paper and totes. Week 4 (Dec 1): Cardboard Manipulation & Architectural Relief Taking humble corrugated cardboard and pushing it far beyond the box! Makers learn corrugation peeling, scoring, curved slot-jointing, and layering techniques to engineer a dynamic, geometric cardboard relief sculpture or free-standing structure.
