"Say No to Your Phone” Boxes + Screening of The Social Dilemma Join us for a creative and thought-provoking evening co-hosted with Alex Bird Becker of Delco Unplugged! Alex will share a bit about the group and how you can get involved. We’ll start by making “Say No to Your Phone” boxes — a fun, hands-on way to take a break from screens. Decorate a sturdy kraft box (provided) to create a safe resting place for your phone when you need a digital detox. While we craft, we’ll screen the documentary The Social Dilemma — an important exploration of the impact of social media on our lives. Tues. Dec. 2, 7-8:30pm Stationery Swap & Holiday Card-Making Party Calling all paper lovers, pen-heads, sticker fans, and washi-tape and card collectors! Bring your unused stationery and swap it for something New to You. We’ll also make holiday cards to send to friends and family—a sweet way to let someone know you’re thinking of them this season. Come create, trade, and get festive! Tues. Dec. 16, 7-8:30pm Jólabókaflóð Book Swap & Bookmark-Making Party Inspired by the Icelandic tradition of Jólabókaflóðið—the “Christmas Book Flood”—where people exchange books on December 24th and cozy up with hot chocolate and reading, we’ll be celebrating our own version, adapted for any holiday you celebrate! How it works: Bring a wrapped book to swap (new or gently used). On the wrapping write: the genre, a brief summary without revealing the title, and why you love it. We’ll browse the anonymous books and pick the book that intrigues us most. After the swap, we’ll make our own bookmarks—perfect as gifts or to keep for ourselves. I’ll also teach you a simple way to make a cute yarn tassel to add to your bookmark.
