Karith is an artist herself with illustration being her #1 form of art expression with linocutting being her #2. She is a mother of 3 and a Springfield resident after moving from South Philly 12 years ago. Steph Untz-grew up in the North Texas area. From a young age I documented my surroundings with my drawings. I also quickly noticed that drawing someone a really cool dragon or capturing their image, helped me connect with my peers. It seemed to be social currency. Over the years, I have used painting and drawing as a way to highlight the simple joys in life and to make connections with others. Teaching art to college students, in East Tennessee, while in graduate school was such a huge push in my studio practice. And soon after that experience,I taught middle school and was challenged by the way my students viewed the world. For four years I lived in Okinawa, Japan and used mural painting as a way to connect and break down cultural barriers. Each time I have moved it has been important for me to find community and many times my art interests have afforded me these connections. I have lived in Media, Pennsylvania for the past 7 years.
